Let me introduce myself to you, my name is Vickie Parker, I am 67 years old and most of the time, I really enjoy life. I have been married (for the second time around) for 35 years and I love my family. I have eleven beautiful grandchildren. I love the outdoors and enjoy running, swimming, and biking.
I was raised in a Christian home and my relationship with God is very much a part of my life. Being a Christian does not mean that I have not struggled with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, cancer (2015), losing a brother to cancer in 2014, and feelings of loneliness and helplessness.
Therapy made a big difference in my life and I have a passion to pass on what I have learned, through my own therapy and education, to others who want it. My husband and I have had several years of couple’s therapy when things were really tough and I wanted to leave. Our marriage will always be a work in progress and we have learned to love accept each other and continue to grow in the journey together.
I graduated from National University in 2009 with my masters in Counseling. I received my license, in Marriage and Family Therapy, in 2012 and opened my own practice in 2013. I enjoy working with couples and have attended level 1 and 2 training, working with couples, through The Gottman Institute from the University of Washington. Their training is based on evidenced based research that they have been doing for over 30 years. Their method has great results in helping relationships improve.
I attended a training in Seattle in October, 2016, where I attended a 3 day Gottman training in treating affairs and PTSD.
I have completed the 2nd level of Gotten training for couple’s counseling in January 2017.
I allow myself to be open and inspired by the world around me but I will always be the first to say that life is not easy. Life is a challenging adventure filled with difficult situations, excitement, relationships, joy, and lots of hard work. I live to inspire and encourage.
I welcome the opportunity to come along side of anyone who wants to make changes in their life and do the work. I meet with couples, families, and individuals.
