Last March I received a gift of a laser rejuvenation treatment with Dr. Lensink, in Redding, that removed the fine wrinkles in my face. It was a painful experience, but the results were really good and it made my skin soft and smooth again. The procedure was successful, but it did not get rid of the deep wrinkles, jowls, and loose neck skin that contributed to making me look old. I have wrinkles and jowls in my genetics, but I also had a lot of sun exposure over the years that added to my skin looking old and withered.
I will soon be 64 years old, but I really do not feel any different that I did 20 years ago. I have lots of energy and I exercise regularly. I started running when I was 27 years old and I continue to run about 4 miles, five days a week. I swim and have a road bike that I use on the weekends when my husband and I ride together. I have no health problems, like arthritis or diabetes, which I am so thankful for. The only thing I have that is annoying is loss of hearing, which I wear hearing aids for and that helps tremendously.
After my laser rejuvenation treatment, I decided to get a consultation, with a plastic surgeon, about the possibility of getting a facelift. I had no idea how much it would cost and if it would be affordable. I made the appointment with Dr. Thomas in Chico, California because I heard he was the best in the North State. He said I was a perfect candidate and the price he quoted was affordable. I had to wait 7 months for the surgery because he was so booked up, but that gave me time to think about it.
Finally on October 31, 2013 I had the surgery. It only took about an hour and I was awake for most of it. Doctor Thomas and I talked while he worked on me. My eyes were covered and I was numb, so I didn’t feel anything. I left his office with my head wrapped like a mummy and my husband drove me to the hotel where we spent the night. I got about 4 hours sleep that night and only had to take 2 pain pills for the pain. I couldn’t turn my head for a week and I had to take it easy during the first week and cannot exercise for one month except walking it ok.
My jowls and deep wrinkles are gone and my neck is tight under my chin like it used to be. I look twenty years younger and now I look as young as I feel. Had a check up yesterday and I am ahead of schedule in my healing. I feel so thankful for the opportunity to have this done. We remodel our homes and buy new cars, why shouldn’t we make the repairs necessary to look as good as we feel on our bodies, if it is possible. If we can’t. that is okay, too. Life is good no matter what!
